about

D.B. Rielly is at it again. Following up his critically acclaimed, award-winning debut album “Love Potions and Snake Oil,” which garnered a tidal wave of accolades including well over a dozen “Best of” lists, NYC-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist D.B. Rielly promises to deliver.

“Cross My Heart + Hope To Die” is the new full-length release on the Shut up & play! label. Once again, Rielly digs down deep to the roots of American music and comes up with a variety of vintage sounds, including Americana, Country, Folk, Zydeco, and Rockabilly. Featuring D.B.’s own Americana version of Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page,” this second album tours the South with an authentic, travelled sound – like he knows the way so well, he’s beaten the path down to hard dirt.

Schooled by strangers, hard-bitten preachers, and friendly waitresses, D.B. Rielly’s vivid scenes recall decades of the real life lessons he’s come to savor. He effortlessly captures what he’s seen with charm, humor, and sentimentality. His sincerity disarms you and his stories pull you in.

Besides the 1970’s Seger hit, other standout tracks include the lovely and lonely Roy Orbison-esque “Some Day,” the bare-bones intimacy of “Come Hell or High Water,” and the powerful slide guitar-driven anthem “It’s Gonna Be Me.”

The album was produced by D.B. Rielly and mixed by Grammy-nominated studio engineer Scott Noll (Ricki Lee Jones, Tom Chapin) at Whitewater Music in Brooklyn.

D.B. Rielly is proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with. And now back on the road he goes – continuing to wander, talk to strangers, and defy noise ordinances with his squeezebox.

D.B. Rielly was only six months old when, upon hearing David Hasselhoff sing, he immediately soiled his diaper and vowed to bring good music back to a starving generation. Since then, he has tirelessly pursued his quest, all the while narrowly avoiding work, debt collectors, and liver failure. ... more
