about

D.B. Rielly’s debut full-length album release, “Love Potions and Snake Oil” is a wide-ranging collection of Americana music spanning several genres, including Roots, Zydeco, Blues and Alternative Country. Thematically, many of the tracks poignantly address longing for love [“Don’t Give Up On Me,” “Love Me Today”]. Similar in theme, the album’s first single and standout track, “Save All Your Kisses,” is a beautifully-written, timeless piano ballad. Yet, balancing out these heart-tugging tunes are several playfully raucous ditties demonstrating D.B.’s trademark sense of humor [“We’re All Going Straight To Hell” and “I Got A Girlfriend”]. Another stand-out track, “Got A Mind,” follows a father battling his inclinations toward his own ideas of justice.

While the songs showcase D.B.’s various talents as a banjo, accordion and guitar player, all of the songs are intrinsically held together by D.B.’s unique, expressive voice, arguably his strongest and most impressive instrument.

The album was self-produced and mixed & mastered by Grammy-nominated studio engineer Scott Noll (Manhattan Transfer, James Moody) at Midtown Sound studio in Manhattan (Nora Jones, Cyndi Lauper).

D.B.’s music, much like that of alternative country legends Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash, is multi-generational in its appeal. And, D.B. is praised by music lovers and fellow musicians as diverse as B.B. King, Phil Ramone and KRS-One. Heck, the new album even comes with a guarantee…of sorts. Adds D.B., “I personally guarantee that if these here concocted remedies fail to eliminate all the trouble & woe that befall man or beast, I’ll eat a bug.”
